Foreign Economic Relations

The author reflects on the government policy for foreign businesses in Russia as of March 15, 2010. The author mentions the statement given by Russian Prime Minister Bladimir Putin that foreign companies do not fully understand Russian laws and so they need special attention. The author notes the negative experiences of Swedish company IKEA in Russia according to its first general manager Lennart Dahlgren, which include extortion of bribes. The author cites international investor George Soros's warnings for investors not to invest in Russia.
